Since the implementation of the Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit in 1995, it has grown and expanded to five teams. Those teams utilize multi-purpose canines that can perform several different tasks such as tracking, evidence searches, apprehension, building searches, narcotic detection, and tactical operations. The multi-purpose teams consist of different breeds, including German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and Malinois.
For any questions about the K-9 unit, please contact Lieutenant Justin Etters at 704-484-4797.
