The Civil Division of the Sheriff's Office falls under the command of the Patrol Captain. This
unit is responsible for the service and execution of various processes issued by and for the Courts of North
Carolina. There are five main types of civil processes issued by the Courts in North Carolina. These
processes are summonses, judgments, pleadings, court orders and reports.
The unit consists of six officers, one Lieutenant, one Administrative Deputy and four Civil
Deputies. They are responsible for the service of approximately 1000 papers per month as well as the majority
of incident reports and warrant services that are conducted at the Law Enforcement Center. Additional
duties include the service of Domestic Violence Orders and Evictions as well as the collection of money judgments
issued by the courts.
